This is deep; I dare say it is life changing! The wisdom of this compels us to re-evaluate our friendships and re-assess our connections. I have always asserted that we tend to take the most for granted those who are closest to us. Many times these are the people which really matter and always will. They are the ones who would stand with us through thick and thin. While they may not always affirm us in all that we do or say, their love and genuine concern never fail.
Unfortunately, though, the sojourners, whose presence in our lives are but for a moment, quickly ascend to the pinnacle of our attention, interest and sometimes our wholehearted affection – only for us to later learn, they really never did (matter).
Growth, maturity and, at times, severe challenges or trials may usher us to that point in life when we realize who really matters, who never did, and who always will.
